Cinemini: Mannetje Tak – A Magical First Cinema Experience
21st and 28th of December 2025 — Natlab
Join us for a delightful morning of film and play!
Cinemini invites children aged 2 to 6 for their very first cinema experience in our cozy screening room. On Sunday mornings, toddlers and preschoolers enjoy Taartrovers Cinemini, a unique program where they watch films and play in a stunning light landscape.
During Taartrovers Cinemini, we screen beautiful, charming, exciting, abstract, narrative, and sometimes challenging short films specifically crafted for young kids. After the films, children get to play together in a light landscape featuring various installations that allow them to explore how light can tell stories. They investigate shape, projection, light, shadow, stories, movement, and color. How are shadows created? Where do images come from? How do shapes grow or shrink, and how can they disappear completely? For adults, shadows are part of reality, but for children, they might be seen as magic that transforms adults into tall giants.
**PROGRAM:**
"Raakt steeds verder van huis.. komt hij weer thuis?"
**MANNETJE TAK**
Jeroen Jaspaert, Daniel Snaddon, 2015
United Kingdom
26 minutes
Mannetje Tak lives happily with his family in an old oak tree. One day, while going for a run, he is mistaken for various objects: first a stick for playing, then a twig for weaving a swan nest, then a flagpole, or a sword. As Mannetje Tak slowly strays further from home, he eventually loses hope of ever returning, until he meets Santa Claus.
