Join Taartrovers Cinemini for a Unique Film Experience

Children aged 2 to 6 years old will experience their very first cinema visit in our cozy film hall. On Sunday mornings, toddlers and preschoolers will enjoy Taartrovers Cinemini, a special program where they can watch inspiring short films and then play in a stunning light landscape. During Taartrovers Cinemini, we showcase beautiful, loving, exciting, abstract, narrative, and sometimes challenging short films specifically curated for young children. After the viewing, attendees will play together in a light landscape, made up of diverse installations that encourage children to explore how light can create stories. They will investigate form, projection, light, shadow, narratives, movement, and color. How are shadows formed? Where do images come from? How do shapes grow or shrink, and how do they disappear? To adults, shadows may seem ordinary, but to children, it might feel like magic creating towering figures from the adults! **PROGRAM:** **What do you wish to find? What are you searching for?** A home, a cat in a container, yourself, or the other sock? This film program has it all! **ALFRED ZOEKT EEN HUISJE** (Alfred is in Search of a Home) Director: Arnaud Demuynk, 2023, Belgium, 11 minutes Alfred is on the lookout for a cozy new place to call home. What do you do when you must leave your own space? Along his journey, he meets various houses but feels unwelcome. How does a lonely bird react when Alfred knocks on his door? **WAT ZIT ER IN DE KIST?** (What’s in the Box?) Directors: Bram Algoed & Pieter Gaudesaboos, 2023, Belgium, 9 minutes A girl is searching for a cat that travels the world in a big container. The cat embarks on its journey via plane, ship, and train. After numerous narrowly avoided mishaps, it finally arrives back at the girl, albeit in a small box. **MAANBLOEM** (Moonflower) Director: Natalia Chernysheva, 2023, France/Russia, 5 minutes A sunflower seeks and finds its own path. It chooses to enjoy daytime slumbers while basking in moonlight at night. This charming, graphic short animation illustrates the beauty of choosing one’s own path. **WASMACHINE** (Washing Machine) Director: Gurli Bachmann, 2022, Germany, 7 minutes Two socks are completely smitten with each other. But during the spin cycle, they unexpectedly get separated. One sock finds its way back to the sock drawer, but the other is nowhere to be found. Will these two love-struck socks reunite?
