ABOUT THIS EVENT
In 1974, Alejandro Jodorowsky embarked on what was to become one of the most ambitious filmmaking endeavors ever: a feature film adaptation of Frank Herbert's DUNE. Jodorowsky wasn't just creating a film; he aimed to become 'a prophet.' His ultimate goal was to change the world. For two intense years, Jodorowsky and his team of 'Spiritual Warriors' worked tirelessly day and night to breathe life into the fantastic universe of DUNE. To secure funding from Hollywood, they created over 3,000 storyboards, countless paintings, incredible costumes, and an extravagant, immersive screenplay.
In the words of Jodorowsky's producer, Michel Seydoux: 'It should have been enough. But it wasn't.'
' I believe this film was not made in America because they were afraid of him. They were afraid of his imagination, afraid of his mind, and afraid of what it would do to them.' (Nicolas Winding Refn)
Jodorowsky’s Dune tells the story of this incredible film that never came to be. The documentary premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, became one of the highest-rated films of 2014, won numerous awards, and was even shortlisted for an Oscar for Best Documentary.
