ABOUT THIS EVENT
This program is part of the Red Tulip Festival, the only annual Turkish film festival in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Eindhoven, showcasing the best of contemporary Turkish cinema. The Eindhoven edition is organized by the Turkish Professionals Network Eindhoven (TPN-E).
'Buta' follows the touching story of a lonely 7-year-old boy named Buta, living with his grandmother in a serene mountain village. After befriending an old liquid soap merchant, who has a history with Buta's grandmother, Buta learns valuable lessons about life and love. As his grandmother weaves a special carpet in memory of Buta's mother, the boy is inspired to create his own rendition of a "buta," made from rocks and stones atop the mountain. This film beautifully intertwines themes of friendship, loss, and legacy.
