Biotopia: A Dance Journey Through Space

In Biotopia, we follow five space travelers who are forced to leave Earth in search of a safe place for humanity. Their destination: Planet Nine, a theoretically confirmed planet beyond our solar system. Within the limited environment of their new habitat, they are completely reliant on each other. Personal freedom gives way to enforced togetherness, and individuality fades in favor of the collective. What begins as a shared mission slowly transforms into a psychological trial—love turns to jealousy, and comfort transforms into irritation. When their probe collides with space debris, chaos ensues. Biotopia is a dynamic dance performance featuring five dancers amidst a futuristic setting, exploring the physical aspects of forced companionship—from gentle, poetic interactions to explosive partner work. **About Shiifft:** Founded in 2016 by choreographer Jasper van Luijk, Shiifft seeks to address urgent contemporary themes through a rich artistic exchange with dancers and artists from various disciplines. Shiifft engages its audience both in theaters and unique locations, transforming pressing societal issues into physical movement, enabling individuals to connect through their senses and grounding them in their bodies.
