ABOUT THIS EVENT
Join us in Biotopia as we follow five space travelers forced to abandon Earth in search of a new safe haven for humanity. Their destination, Planet Nine—a planet beyond our solar system, currently only theorized to exist. Within their confined living environment, they become entirely reliant on each other, where personal freedom gives way to enforced togetherness, and individualism morphs into collective concern. What begins as a collaborative mission slowly turns into a psychological test, where love turns to jealousy and security leads to irritation. When their probe collides with floating debris, chaos erupts. Biotopia showcases a dynamic dance performance featuring five dancers amid a futuristic set, navigating the physical aspects of enforced proximity, ranging from soft and poetic interactions to explosive partner work.
**About SHIFFT:** Founded in 2016 by choreographer Jasper van Luijk, SHIFFT, alongside dramaturge Isabel Meloen, explores pressing contemporary themes through an artistic exchange with dancers and artists from various disciplines. They bring their performances both to theaters and unique locations, aiming to translate significant societal issues into physical movement that resonates on an individual level. With our language of dance, we aim to ground individuals in their bodies, guiding them to connect through their senses.
