ABOUT THIS EVENT
Giselle, a peasant girl, falls in love with Albrecht, only to discover he is actually a nobleman, already betrothed. In her despair, she takes her own life, becoming a spirit that joins the Wili's, vengeful spirits of women who seek to dance men to death. Albrecht, filled with remorse, visits Giselle's grave, where he must confront her spirit and the Wili's. This production by Peter Wright from 1985 is a hallmark of The Royal Ballet's repertoire, featuring the emotive music of Adolphe Adam and atmospheric designs by John Macfarlane, weaving together earthly and ethereal realms in a story of love, betrayal, and redemption.
