Biotopia: A Dance Journey into Space

In 'Biotopia', we follow five space travelers who are forced to leave Earth in search of a safe living environment for humanity. Their destination: Planet Nine, a planet beyond our solar system whose existence remains theoretically confirmed. Within the confines of their new habitat in space, they rely entirely on one another. Personal freedom gives way to enforced togetherness, and individuality transforms into the interest of the collective. What begins as a shared mission slowly turns into a psychological trial. Relationships shift: love turns to jealousy, and comfort breeds irritation. Chaos ensues when their probe collides with floating debris. 'Biotopia' is a dynamic dance performance featuring five dancers amidst a futuristic set, enduring all physical aspects of forced coexistence. From gentle poetic interactions to explosive partner work. (Excl. consumption.) ABOUT SHIFFT SHIFFT is the dance company of choreographer Jasper van Luijk, founded in 2016. Together with dramaturg Isabel Meloen, he explores pressing contemporary themes. In rich artistic exchange with dancers and artists from diverse disciplines, compelling works emerge. SHIFFT engages its audience both in the theater and at unique locations. Through our performances, we aim to translate significant societal themes into physical movement, allowing each individual to connect on a personal level.
