OVER DIT EVENEMENT
On April 23rd, join us for the opening of 'Op de Hoogte,' the first photography exhibition by Mitchell van Eijk. This exhibition showcases over 25 photographic works depicting the evolving urban landscape of Eindhoven. Through various heights and perspectives, Mitchell examines how the city develops and how architecture, space, and perspective shape the character of the urban landscape.
You can register for free to attend the opening on April 23rd.
'Op de Hoogte' is a substantive continuation of Mitchell's existing practice, which has long focused on Eindhoven. His work explores how the urban environment influences our way of seeing and experiencing. This exhibition brings together a comprehensive selection of that research in a standalone photo series, in collaboration with the Eindhoven Architecture Centre.
Many photographs are captured from elevated viewpoints: rooftops, high-rise apartments, or from his own window overlooking the skyline of Strijp-S. This perspective offers an overview, revealing patterns in architecture, light, and space while presenting the city in a nearly landscape-like manner. 'Op de Hoogte' invites you to consciously experience the city and its transformation, reflecting on the role of humanity within it.
**ABOUT MITCHELL VAN EIJK**
Mitchell has been working as a freelance photographer for architects since 2017 while developing his own photographic projects. The city consistently serves as a foundational element in his work. As a native of Eindhoven, he has been observing the changes in his cityscape for years. In addition to urban photography, Mitchell focuses on the relationship between humans, housing, and environment. For his ongoing project 'Where Water Whispers,' he travels to various parts of the world to capture the daily lives of people living in direct connection with water, creating an intimate portrait of places where home, landscape, and humanity intertwine.
