The Royal Ballet Presents: La Fille mal gardée
30th of November 2025 — Natlab
A Love Story in Dance
Lise, the only daughter of widow Simone, is in love with the young farmer Colas, but her mother has grander plans for her. Simone hopes to marry her off to Alain, the son of wealthy farmer Thomas. Desperate to marry Colas instead, Lise will do everything she can to outsmart her mother.
Celebrating 65 years since its premiere, The Royal Ballet revives Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée. This charming portrayal of village life combines a delightful sense of humor with brilliant choreographic inventiveness, fondly expressing Ashton’s love for the English countryside. Enjoy the carefree rural life set to the cheerful music of Ferdinand Hérold and the colorful designs of Osbert Lancaster.
