ABOUT THIS EVENT

Children aged 2 to 6 will have their very first cinema experience in our cozy film hall. On Sunday mornings, toddlers and preschoolers enjoy Taartrovers Cinemini, a unique program where they watch films and engage in playful activities within a beautiful light landscape. During Taartrovers Cinemini, we present beautiful, kind, exciting, abstract, narrative, and sometimes challenging short films specifically crafted for toddlers and preschoolers. After the screenings, visitors play together in a light landscape, filled with various installations that allow children to discover how light can create stories. They explore form, projection, light, shadow, narratives, movement, and color. How do shadows come to be? Where do images originate, how do forms grow or shrink, and how do they disappear? What stories can they see in these forms? For adults, shadows are a common phenomenon; for children, it might feel like a magician creating giants out of grown-ups. **PROGRAM** We take a look at the other side and view the world upside down, unlike any other. The Upside Down is a lighthearted yet philosophical film program where you can be amazed and laugh at the same time. Sometimes we are in the air; other times, we're underground. **SALLY** Luna Maurer, Roel Wouters, 2005 Netherlands 2 minutes We see one large and many small marbles in a bright white space. The marbles move from left to right and back. Suddenly, they start jumping towards the right wall, the ceiling, and back down. Are these ordinary marbles, or something else? Why do they seem to disregard the laws of gravity? Are we looking from below or down? **ANDERSLAND** An Vrombaut, 2022 Belgium 7 minutes What happens if you're different from the rest? Is a giraffe with a long neck different? Is that weird? Laugh at the fantastic characters, silly movements, and of course, the crazy sounds in Andersland. **UNDER THE UPSIDE DOWN** Youri Tcherenkov, 1995 France 8 minutes Flying in the air, we travel with the birds to distant lands in beautifully illustrated animations. But how do you know where you are, without any points of reference, in the empty air? A humorous short animation that turns the world upside down. **THE PARSNIP** Piret Sigus and Silja Saarepuu, 2022 Estonia 7 minutes Dig with us underground, together with mice, moles, and all the other creatures who live by the parsnip's roots. See what really happens while the farmer is busy tending to his vegetables. **UNDERGROUND** Elise Auffray, 2014 France 2.5 minutes In a short documentary, we investigate the ground itself. Fast forward and see what happens when you compost, living among the worms who feast on all the scraps. All this can only be experienced through film!
