Cinemini: Dive into a World of Wonder

Children aged 2 to 6 years will embark on their first cinema adventure in our cozy screening room. On Sunday mornings, little ones can enjoy Taartrovers Cinemini, a unique program where they experience films and engage in play within a stunning landscape of light. During Taartrovers Cinemini, we present beautiful, warm, exciting, abstract, narrative, and sometimes challenging short films specifically tailored for toddlers and preschoolers. After the screening, children will play together in a light landscape composed of various installations that allow them to explore how light can tell stories. They will investigate shapes, projections, light, shadows, stories, movement, and color. How are shadows created? Where do images come from, how do shapes grow or shrink, and how do they vanish into nothingness? What stories can they see within these shapes? While shadows may seem mundane to adults, they appear as magic to children, transforming them into towering giants. **PROGRAM:** **Splash, drip, splash!** This film program invites you to dive into four movie adventures full of water, dancing alongside crabs and riding the waves back to the shore! 1. **THE POND** **Lena von Déhren & Eva Rust, 2023, Switzerland, 9 minutes** Swim along with a little fish and uncover the fantastic underwater world. Together with a crew of mussels, a crab, an octopus, a starfish, and a sea anemone, the little fish creates joyful chaos underwater. Will they outsmart the hungry seagull? 2. **THE RED PAPER BOAT** **Aleksandra Zaręba, 2013, Poland, 14 minutes** The Red Paper Boat dreams of discovering new lands. Despite being just a tiny boat made from a piece of paper, it believes that anything is possible. One day, it decides to embark on a journey to fulfill its dream. What unfolds is a grand adventure that will change it forever... 3. **LAND SICK** **Olesya Shchukina, 2012, France, 4 minutes** A Russian sailor returns to shore after being at sea for a very long time. Can he readjust to life on land? 4. **THE DIVING CHAMPION** **Iulia Voitoiva, 2018, France, 4 minutes** She practices her sport at the highest level, performing phenomenal dives. But she must keep getting better—more beautiful dives, more flips, and less splash upon landing! Until she almost finds herself totally flipped upside down...
