ABOUT THIS EVENT

Next Real Talks brings together creatives for open discussions about the realities of creative life, offering insights into the working process, highlighting both challenges and successes. In an intimate and interactive setting, we create space for honest dialogues, listening, and exchanging ideas. During this lecture, we explore the concept of 'homegrown horror': shining a light on a genre that is growing within the local film industry. But how do you create horror with limited budgets? What themes play a role in the work of creators? And how do you bring your bloody ideas to life? This exploration delves into working within the genre, what it means to make horror, and why the genre is thriving in today’s society. The moderated panel will bring together creatives at various stages of their film careers. We warmly welcome filmmaker and writer Jan van Gorkum and animation generalist and illustrator Zlatelina Tsokova. The audience is invited to actively participate and ask questions.
