The prince and his servant have reached the end of their fairy tale. Now they seek the long and happy life promised to them, but no one has told them what it looks like or how to recognize it. In 'Forever Happy', the Eindhoven-based Theater Oortwolk turns the classic fairy tale ending upside down with slapstick, magic, and a hefty dose of absurdity. The fairy tale is over. The dragon is defeated, the last page has turned, and everyone should be living happily ever after. Yet, the prince and his servant are still waiting. Their happiness was promised, so where is it? In a strange no man's land, the two attempt to discover what a happy life truly looks like. Perhaps happiness appears as an unexpected guest at a party, or is hidden in a small bag between two sandwiches. Or maybe, to find it, they need to stop searching altogether. The prince and his servant continue to wait, try, and fumble along, refusing to give up hope, even as happiness seems indifferent to their expectations. Slowly, they learn that a happy ending can look very different from what fairy tales suggest. In 'Forever Happy', Theater Oortwolk plays with slapstick, magic, and absurdity, weaving a story about expectations, persistence, and the unexpected value of friendship.
