Cinemini: Spinning and Twirling

Children aged 2 to 6 will enjoy their very first cinema visit in our cozy film hall. On Sunday mornings, toddlers and preschoolers will experience Taartrovers Cinemini—a special program where they watch films and play in a stunning light landscape. During Taartrovers Cinemini, we showcase beautiful, charming, exciting, abstract, narrative, and sometimes challenging short films specifically tailored for toddlers and preschoolers. After the screenings, children engage in playful explorations within a landscape made of various installations that allow them to discover how light can create stories. They investigate shape, projection, light, shadow, narrative, movement, and color. How do shadows arise? Where do images come from? How do shapes grow or shrink, and how can they disappear into thin air? For adults, shadows are an everyday occurrence; for children, it might feel like magic that transforms adults into towering giants! **PROGRAM** Marbles roll everywhere; ink drips and dances to beautiful music, and we meet a dog whose best friend is his own tail! Together, we will explore six different lively films with space to move along. One thing is certain—you won't sit still during this program! How long can you resist the boogie-woogie? **Featured films include:** - *DANSE SERPENTINE* by Cinématographe Lumière, 1897, France – A 1-minute film where a woman dances on stage, changing shapes with her dress as it simultaneously changes color. - *SURPRISE BOOGIE* by Albert Pierru, 1957, France – A 5-minute film created without a camera! Etched directly onto film stock, it produces abstract and figurative images set to lively jazz music. - *SALLY* by Luna Maurer & Roel Wouters, 2005, Netherlands – A 3-minute colored silent film from 1902 featuring six female acrobats dubbed 'Les reines du tapis' performing remarkable feats on stage. - Other films include *LES SIX SOEURS DAINEF* (3 minutes, France, 1902), *VIRTUOS VIRTUELL* (8 minutes, Germany, 2013), and *MY HAPPY END* (5 minutes, Germany, 2007).
